How do I view or change my screen resolution?

Your screen resolution determines how much of a webpage fits on your screen. At higher resolutions (e.g., 1280x1024), you can view more of the webpage at once, which results in less scrolling and an improved experience. At lower resolutions (e.g., 1024x768), you can view less of the webpage at once, which leads to more scrolling and a diminished experience.

To change your screen resolution, follow the steps for your specific operating system:

Windows XP

  1. Right-click the desktop, and then select Properties.
  2. Click the Settings tab.
  3. Your screen resolution appears in the Screen resolution area. Use the slider to change your screen resolution.

Windows Vista

  1. Right-click the desktop, and then select Personalization.
  2. Click Display Settings.
  3. Your screen resolution appears in the Resolution area. Use the slider to change your screen resolution.

Windows 7

  1. Right-click the desktop, and then select Screen Resolution.
  2. Your screen resolution appears next to the Resolution field. Click the Resolution drop-down list to change your screen resolution.

Mac OS X

  1. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
  2. In the System Preferences window, click Displays.
  3. Click the Display tab.
  4. Your screen resolution appears selected in the Resolutions list box. Select a different resolution from this field to change your screen resolution.
